Hisajo, Sugita

Sugita Hisajo became known through her publications in the literary magazine Hototogisu. She devoted her entire life to calligraphy and haiku poetry. A few years after her success, Sugita Hisajo was expelled from the Hototogisu group for no apparent reason. Her marital crises intensify. The food shortage after the Pacific War and the resulting malnutrition aggravated her kidney disease. She died at the age of only 57, on 21 January 1946 in the sanatorium in Dazaifu.
