CALAMBAC CLASSICA
The Calambac Classica series is the latest from Calambac Verlag. Newly compiled anthologies, such as that of the poet Emmy Ball-Hennings, poems, novels and selected stories by authors such as Robert Musil, Ludwig Rubiner and Elisabeth Janstein, appear in this German-language edition.
CALAMBAC BILINGUA
The Calambac Bilingua series publishes bilingual texts, mainly in their first translation, by writers little known in German-speaking countries such as Florencia Pinar, Constance Fenimore Woolson, Sophie de Ségur and Violet Paget, among others, but also by recognised essayists such as Ernest Renan and Paul Gsell.
CALAMBAC TRILINGUA
The Calambac Trilingua series presents trilingual readings that confront the original version with German and a third language, predominantly French, English and Spanish. Writers newly discovered outside their own countries, such as the French author Amable Tastu, are presented in German translation for the first time. Established writers such as H.G. Wells and Germaine de Staël are published in revised editions.
CALAMBAC GRAFICA
The illustrated poems published in the Calambac Grafica series are the publishing house's flagship. Starting with the expressionist poetry of Hugo Ball, the edition now includes an exquisite haiku series. Female poets such as Sugita Hisajo and poets such as Masaoka Shiki, Yosa Buson and Kobayashi Issa, among others, can be found here. The publisher's typical creative approach of interpreting each verse graphically is known as graphic lyric or graphic lyric poetry.
