Mansfield, Katherine

Kathleen Mansfield Beauchamp is considered one of the pioneers of modern English short story. Born in Wellington on October 14, 1888, left her homeland in 1903, went to London and mingled with the literary bohemian. She has relationships with both men and women; After a miscarriage and the breakdown of a marriage, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1917. The author spends the rest of her life in search of healing in southern France, Italy and Switzerland. She died in Fontainebleau in 1923, only 34 years old.
