Ségur, Comtesse de

Sofia Fiodorovna Rostoptchina, later Comtesse de Ségur, was born in Saint Petersburg in 1799. Daughter of a Russian general, she moved with her entire family to Paris in 1816, where she married Count Eugène de Ségur in 1819, with whom she had eight children. Most of her 20 children's novels and collections of fairy tales were created at an advanced age, between 1856 and 1871. With the sale, she ensured the family's financial well-being. She died in Paris on January 31, 1874.
